Missed church this morning due to snow that has been falling since last night. On top of the 6 inches of snow still on the ground from Christmas, plus ice on the roads from snow melting then re-freezing.

Saint names

Forgot to mention our new Christian names:  dh is Brendan; I am Brigid; oldest son is James; next son is Patrick; older daughter is Martha; and Helen remains Helen after Constantine's mother.

Found out after the fact that Brendan, Brigid, and Patrick are all patron saints of Ireland.

I'm a catechumen

On Friday my dh and I were received into the Orthodox church as catechumens.  We started attending St. Basil the Great Antiochan Orthodox church this past August.  Our 3 younger children love it, as well as our adult son with developmental disabilities.  It was appropriately St. Basil's feast day.

Unfortunately we missed church today due to the snow (on top of the ice already on the streets).

Tomorrow is a New Testament class which we plan to attend if the roads are clear.
